Connecting Zambia, Empowering Digital Growth

Who We Are

The Lusaka Internet Exchange Point (LSK IX) is Zambia’s neutral, non-profit platform where Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content providers, and network operators interconnect locally to exchange internet traffic efficiently. By keeping traffic within the country, LSK IX significantly reduces international bandwidth costs, delivers faster speeds, and strengthens Zambia’s digital resilience and independence.

History

LSK IX was established to strengthen Zambia’s internet ecosystem by enabling efficient local traffic exchange. Since its inception, the exchange has grown steadily — continuously adding new peers, upgrading its infrastructure, and playing a key role in supporting Zambia’s national digital transformation initiatives.

Our Services

Public Peering

Connect directly with multiple networks.

Route Server Service

Simplify routing management with route servers

Monitoring & Statistics

Access real-time traffic statistics & performance metrics

Private Peering / Closed-User Groups (CUGs)

Establish secure, dedicated, and private interconnections.

Hosting & CDN Opportunities

Colocate your servers, caches, or Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)

By peering at an Internet Exchange Point (IXP), you bypass traditional transit routes, dramatically reducing latency, improving performance, and cutting bandwidth costs. Ideal for ISPs, content providers, enterprises, and cloud services looking for better connectivity and greater control.

Our Route Server Service lets you connect once to the route server and instantly exchange routing information with multiple networks at the exchange. It reduces configuration complexity, speeds up new peer activation, supports customized policies, and ensures efficient, scalable multilateral peering.

Gain full visibility into your peering activity with comprehensive, real-time monitoring tools.

Track traffic volumes, performance metrics, latency, packet loss, and peering utilization through intuitive dashboards and detailed reports. Quickly identify issues, optimize routes, plan capacity, and make data-driven decisions to maintain peak network performance.

Create your own secure, private interconnection environment outside the public peering fabric.

Closed-User Groups (CUGs) allow you to exchange traffic directly with specific partners, customers, or suppliers over a dedicated VLAN. This gives you full control, higher security, guaranteed performance, and complete privacy — ideal for sensitive data exchange, large volume transfers, or business-critical connections.

Bring your servers, cache nodes, or full Content Delivery Network (CDN) infrastructure directly into the Lusaka Internet Exchange Point.

By hosting onsite, you benefit from ultra-low latency, direct access to all peered networks, reduced bandwidth costs, and significantly improved content delivery speeds for end users across Zambia and the region. Perfect for ISPs, streaming platforms, cloud providers, gaming companies, and large content owners.
